Apply UGC University Admissions – 2022 A/L Academic Year 2022/2023

If you have obtained minimum requirements at GCE A/L 2022 then you can now apply for university admissions for the academic year 2022/23.

Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Chairman University Grants Commission (UGC) said that you can submit your applications online via https://www.ugc.ac.lk/ from today (Sept. 14) until October 05.

Important facts

  • UGC plans to enroll a total of 45,000 students in state universities for the new academic year.
  • The results of the 2022(2023) GCE Advanced Level examination, which was held from January 23 to February 17 this year were released on September 04.
  • A total of 232,797 school applicants and 31,136 private applicants had sat for the exam.
  • According to Commissioner General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara, 166,938 candidates (149,487 school applicants and 17,451 private applicants) have qualified for university admissions.
  • If you need to apply for the re-scrutiny of exam results then the Examinations Department has begun accepting applications. The deadline for submitting applications is September 16.

How to guess which course you will be selected (Z-score cut-off marks)?

Z-score cut-off values based on Merit and District basis for the next academic year will be released after applicants have applied for various courses.

In the meantime, you can check Z-score cut-off values for the past few years to get an indication of Z-score values that may be required for next year’s university admission.

It is difficult to guess which course you will get based on your island rank, district rank, and Z-score. However, you may like to check past Z-score values for courses in the following links.

Cut-off marks are to be released in November 2023
